From Art School Director Shannon Barfoot

Our mandate at the Southampton Art School is to offer programming that will encourage students to become lifelong creators.  We do this by providing a multi-faceted experience with the history, practice and philosophy of the visual arts and the role of the arts in various societies. We champion the place and need of the visual arts in the greater community. We intend to remain a preeminent school widely known for a unique learning experience where exhilaration for dynamic practice ensures that academic study will have a transformative effect on the lives of our students. 

The arts throughout history have connected the human spirit with daily life. Art allows people to express themselves, entertain others, communicate meaning, and encourages a higher order of thinking.  Since 1957 we have been offering the community the opportunity to experience creative activity with the finest local and international instructors.    We invite you to be a part of a group of diverse learners from young children to seniors.
