beauty and the beads

Bead projects with a springtime theme. Create a wire brooch, an 8-strand knotted necklace and a chunky bracelet with the colours and fun of spring. Glass beads in the shape of flowers, leaves, fish and stars combined with colourful seed beads produce great beaded accessories. You’ll learn the tricks of working with beadery wire to create a brooch and multi-strand beading cord to make a choker or lariat — your choice! Bead kits will supply you with all you need for the day.

watercolour around the town

Have you ever wanted to take a trip, or a walk in the woods, and just sit down and record your own version of what you see around you? Have you tried, but just weren’t happy with the results? Do you need a little help with drawing or painting techniques?

William will take you from rough thumbnail sketches (working from a photograph or outdoors ) to a finished work of art. Participants will explore graduated washes, working dark to light, drawing skills, introduction to contour, spatter and dry brush, and much more.

Something old is new again.  Gourds have been used in native cultures over the centuries for functional purposes as well as art.  Now sweeping the southern US, gourds are making a resurgence.  Mary will help you create a functional work of art using gourds and acrylic paint.  All supplies including pre-cut gourd provided.  No experience necessary as patterns are provided or you can draw or bring your own.
