We’ll analyze paintings, figure out what went wrong, look at successful paintings, add, subtract, use other materials, and come up with a more interesting image than the one you started with. Plus, the process will give you guidelines to help you before you start your next painting. You’ll have more options, more tools and materials to express your ideas successfully. marquetry
Instructor: Diane Edwards Date(s): June 16 to 20

Discover a traditional artform: inlaying coloured wood veneers to create original art. Wood has endless potential for experimenting and discovering new approaches to design. Its natural-grain patterns and reflection of light off the veneer create unique shading effects. Students will piece together a design for a small box lid; the instructor provides the boxes. While waiting for the gluing and finishing of the first project, students can start another project of their choice. No previous woodworking experience necessary.

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fee: $250, GST included; plus $20 materials fee payable to instructor first day
Season: Spring

solar printmaking (3 days)
Instructor: Wesley Bates Date(s): June 16 to 18

A great way to commemorate a summer holiday! Materials list provided.
