Bob has been turning unusual wood since 1975: primarily with burled, spalted and small diameter woods found in Bruce and Grey counties. Burls are wart-like growths on tree trunks. These rare appendages reveal curious grain, beautiful colours and magical optical properties. Spalt is a fungus that leaves intricate black lines in the wood in a myriad of patterns. Bob's work has been exhibited and sold in some of Ontario's finest galleries and shops. His bowls and vases are 'one-of-a-kind' and have earned several awards for excellence in wood craftmanship. |
