About The Cover (2008)
The Best Kept Secret
By Debbra Nodwell-Bender
I have represented the art school as the Heart of our Heritage. Within the composition of the building I’ve painted various important aspects of Southampton`s past and present. The painting shows the beauty of the sand beach, the ever-changing world-famous sunsets, the lighthouse on Chantry Island and the range light. The fishing boat coming into the harbour with its catch and the ever-present seagulls represent our strong marine heritage. Together these make Southampton Ontario’s Best Kept Secret. Happy 150th Southampton!
Debbra Nodwell-Bender is a resident of Southampton, and a graduate in Design Arts. As well as creating her art, she works full-time as a registered interior designer. Her artistic style has developed over the years, based on a solid and rich foundation in the study of colour and design. Debbra continues to take workshops with prominent artists at the Southampton Art School, from Canada and the U.S. She is a member of the Shoreline Artists and the Central Ontario Art Association.
We welcome submissions from artists who would like to have their work considered for an Art School catalogue cover. Please submit a photograph for our files for future consideration.
