About The Cover (2009)

A New Entrance
By Dianne Sutter

The Southampton Art School and Gallery has been a destination for painters and artisans and art lovers from all over Ontario and beyond for many years.
Through the fund raising efforts of many people, the Art School has a new lease on life - new paint, new floors, easy access, and great equipment for those who seek to visit the School to teach and to learn. But what struck me is that the easy access now comes from the charming rear entrance to the School. The word entrance can mean a place for entering or enchant and/or delight. For me, this then is the entrance to a wonderful experience.  A New Entrance was painted with dyes on silk.

Lifelong summer living at Sauble Beach led Dianne Sutter to take up permanent residency there about six years ago.  Brampton was her home for 45 years a place where she has been and continues to be involved in the Arts Community. A charter member of the co-operative, Beaux-Arts Brampton, Dianne maintains a Studio space in that facility in the downtown area of Brampton, but since coming permanently to Sauble, Dianne has become actively involved with the Shoreline Artists. Diannes love of colour can be seen in the four mediums in which she is working dye on silk, watercolour, batik and acrylic. She has traveled extensively in South East Asia and in parts of Europe and North America.

We welcome submissions from artists who would like to have their work considered for an Art School catalogue cover. Please submit a photograph for our files for future consideration.

Thank you to all those who contribute to the success of the Southampton Art School and Gallery
